Stock Description: 30 Holstein served / incalf heifers due March - May 2025 to named sire Aberdeen Angus stock bull.
Production Capacity: The heifers are mostly sired by AI sires from Genus and Semex North American Holsteins. They are medium in size and are selected for medium stature and ability to graze. The mature weight of the cows would be in the region of 680 kg. Bulls such as Neptune, Spock, Gander, Yamaska and Metalica are some of the sires. 6 are sired by a bull from the well known Sherdon herd. The herd is run on a very simple grass based system with no maize in the diet. The cows are fed concentrates in the parlour. The herd is CIS milk recorded.
Age & Lactation: 18-22 months
TB Status: Yearly TB testing but never had TB on this farm.
Health Status: The herd is monitored for all diseases. There are no red Johnes cows in the herd and there are no issues with this heifers and their dams. The herd is bvd and ibr tested with no issue or vaccine needed, the only vaccination under taken is lepto.
Unique Selling Point: These heifers present an opportunity to buy in quality genetics due to a change in farming system. They are well grown and will go on and perform very well in a higher input system.
