Stock Description: Tremendous group of homebred Feb-Mar calving heifers. These heifers are well grown and in great condition. They have depth, width and strengh all ai sired by Hol/Fr sire's from ST genetics Edmon, Ben and by the renowned Genus sire GTW. They are due to calve from the start of Feb to A Angus with majority in the first 6 weeks. These heifers are bred from a spring herd but would certainly not be out of place in an AYR calving herd, the genetics are there for them to achieve a higher level of production in a more intensive system.
Production Capacity: The herd is run on an extensive spring grass based system with 1 tonne concentrate fed in the parlour with just grazing and grass silage. Current herd performance is 5700 litres 4.81 fat 3.63 pro 496 kg/milk solids sold per cow. This is increasing year on year with the introduction of more black and white breeding, these heifers have potential to achieve higher yields.
Age & Lactation: The heifers will be all calving 23/24 months of age.
TB Status: The herd is in a 12 month testing area with no issues at all in the last 4 years.
Health Status: The herd is Johnes monitored with none of the heifers out of known Johnes cows. The heifers have not to date had any vaccines.
