Stock Description: Fantastic group of home bred heifers all AI sired and due now to the end of October. These heifers are well grown and mostly calving at 24 months of age with a few slightly older. They are very correctly bred heifers and their dams walk considerable distance to grazing and are bred for milk solids, volume and fertility. The herd is run on simple autumn and grazing system and are a credit to their owner.
Production Capacity: These heifers are bred for both volume and milk solids. The producers sells on cheese manufacturing contract. Just shy of 660kg milk solids per cow from 650 /660 kg liveweight achieving the target of most producers 1kg milk solids per 1 kg liveweight.
Health Status: The herd is vaccinated for IBR. It is regularly tested for BVD, Lepto. They run a very strict Johnes policy with no daughters of known red cows in the group. All records are available that will show less than 1% Johnes within the herd.
Unique Selling Point: A very nice group, well grown and in great body condition ahead of calving. Exhibiting strength and width with good locomotion, feet and legs. These heifers will mature in to 650 kg cows. These would suit a variety of systems, they would respond to a more intensive management but would also thrive on a grass based system with good fertility leading to longevity with the added bonus of high milk price per litre from the high milk solids%.
